HR McMaster ‘Not Concerned’ Over Jared Kushner Back-Channel Reports

And sure enough, Brennan said, Russian officials started holding meetings with members of the Trump campaign.

Mr Trump was returning from his first foreign trip on Saturday to find his administration still besieged from the fallout of a slew of investigations into his team’s ties to Moscow.

Senior US advisers have refused to answer questions about Donald Trump’s son-in-law, following reports that Jared Kushner tried to set up a secret communication line with Moscow. In a written statement, Kushner’s attorney said, “Mr. Kushner previously volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about these meetings”. A rally planned Thursday in Iowa was postponed due to “an unforeseen change” in Trump’s schedule.

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and two eldest sons have faced scrutiny from the FBI in its ongoing investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

The number of leaks pertaining to these investigations is extraordinary, and some appear to come from within the White House.

According to NBC News, Kushner was under the FBI’s investigations, which were launched July a year ago and now stretched over the president’s family and close acquaintances.

It is clear that the Trump team are not looking to add to the reports over the actions of Mr Kushner, with top Trump aides making clear on Saturday that they would not address the contents of Mr Kushner’s December meeting with the Russian diplomat.

For what objective? What did they want to discuss with Vladimir Putin that they did not want USA intelligence to know about?

The president announced on Twitter this morning that he will make a final decision next week.
