Hestekin powers Kaukauna to State with no-hitter, HR

KIMBERLY, Wis. – It’s fitting that Wisconsin Badger commit Haley Hestekin plays for the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts. She’s untouchable on the mound.

The senior pitcher threw a complete game, no-hitter and added a two-run homerun to help Kaukauna defeat Pulaski, 3-1 in the Division I Sectional Championship on Thursday.

“We’ve been knocking on the door for four years now,” Kaukauna head coach Tim Roehrig said. “To finally break through, you couldn’t ask for a nicer group of kids.

The Ghosts have lost in the Sectional Finals the previous three years in a row.

“The amount of conversations we’ve had about losing the Sectional Final in our household has been unreal,” Hestekin said. “To finally say that we did it, it’s just so awesome.”

Kaukauna will face the state’s top ranked, undefeated Oshkosh North in the first round of the WIAA Division I State Tournament.
